Having seen traditional insurance plans, I see ABSL has come up over a year or more with better health insurance policy I think. I found Birla Activ Health Enhanced a good one. (I am not a salaried individual and do not have corporate health insurance and looking for the same). It has no copay, an array of options with an option to get health returns based on good health maintenance, yearly free health checkup(of course at least not exhaustive checkup but basic ones which no traditional policy doesnt cover), more number of days in pre and post hospitalization, chronic management program, more number of OPD expenses covered than other policies etc. Also, other policy for critical illness I see covers more critical illnesses up to 50 which is higher than other health insurance policies. I don’t see this policy much advertised online and discussed !? I feel this one has an angle of customer’s attitude of health consciousness considered rather than just bringing out a policy into market as per demand.
The premium is a bit more, but I have the option to pay for 3 years and get 10% discount too. Could you please give your suggestion and review?
That apart, general questions I’ve in mind are:
Am 33 years (married with a kid) currently and looking for good health insurance scheme in long term which would assist me like a health guide sort of but not exactly, instead of just considering health insurance premium as part of financial commitments. I am ready to consider increasing premium etc, but I do not want disappointments later, like in future say I want to increase sum assured say from 5 lakh to 10 lakh that should not get rejected as my age is 40 and at this point in time I cannot modify my sum insured (irrespective of whether I claimed earlier or not, am speaking especially wrt critical illnesses).
Basically, I want some security like (not exactly, but to say dont want rejections like this is not covered or something legal which I get disappointed or feel like fighting with insurance company) lumpsum benefit in case something unexpected happens without doubt, and that I can renew or increase sum insured as required. Let everything be transparent from insured and insurer, and how can I better plan this? (I have a different term life insurance, but open to take another combi health and term life insurance if good one is available)
