Dear Mr. Basu,
My Name is Mehul I live in Mumbai. I request you to guide me on the below matter.
My Father has deposited 5 lac in Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP) in his name in 1991at Post office in Mumbai.
However my father is expired in 1998 and fixed deposit receipt is lost and my father has not appointed any nominee.
The KVP original is lost. We have the FD numbers, amount, date and maturity date.
My both brother is also expired in 2012. As per my father’s will (registered will) he has mentioned all KVP receipt and other property should be given to me and my wife only and there should be no claim of my two brothers.
Now my question is:
• How can I claim KVP receipt? And what is the procedure for the same? It was already matured in 1998. NOTE : ( there is no nominee)
• KVP receipt get auto-renewed? If not then can I get interest on that till date?
• If I claimed how will I get payment via cheque?
My mobile number is 766074949. Please provide your valuable guidance Sir or please reply to this.
Mehul-Sadly KVP is bearer like instrument. Here, whoever produces it for encashment, they will get that money. If you have the KVP deposited number and other details, first check with the concerned post office of whether it is encashed by someone or not. Then we discuss the rest of the issues.
Dear Mr. Basu, i checked with Post office. its not encashed by anyone. its still in my fathers name. now How can I claim KVP receipt? And what is the procedure for the same? its already matured in year 2002. than what % interest i will get.?
Mehul-In that case go with death certificate, legal heir certificate and claim for withdrawal. Try your luck. Because Post Office still in 1942 era. But update to me the end result.
